THE BEST SPEAKER EVENTS IN THE BAY AREA

Keeping Audiences on the Edge of Their Seats Since 1990

Now the largest community speaker series in the United States, averaging over 8,800 subscribers annually, our original (Peninsula) Series began in San Mateo, in response to the desire for stimulating, intellectual entertainment. The concept of bringing nationally recognized speakers to a local community was so successful that we've expanded to Marin and San Francisco (which ultimately moved into the beautiful and historic Oakland Paramount Theatre).

EVERYTHING YOU NEED
TO KNOW

ABOUT US

ONE TICKET GIVES YOU ACCESS TO THE WHOLE SEASON

We are a subscriber community, so your one ticket gives you access to the ENTIRE season. Plus, you'll get early-access and other perks for future seasons. Tickets start at $469/ea depending on your seat choice and venue.

YOUR EXPERIENCE,
OUR PRIORITY

Our team takes pride in offering a special one-to-one touch with our subscribers. It's our way of ensuring you get the absolute best out of your speaker event experiences.

SEVEN BRILLIANT EVENTS THAT WILL LEAVE YOU INSPIRED

Enjoy live speaker events between November and May curated with your input to present a range of ideas and innovations for the enrichment of our community. If you can't join us in person for any reason, you can tune into the event via Zoom as a perk of your subscription to any of our venues.

  • Can I buy individual tickets?
Tickets are sold by Series only. Tickets to individual events are not available. There are separate lectures in the Series, and a Series ticket includes all lectures. Why not? Selling tickets as a package enables us to advertise the Series all at once and reduces the costs of presenting these notable speakers. If each event were marketed and ticketed individually, tickets would be twice as much as they are now. For the same reason, there are no Senior or Student discounts.
  • What is your refund policy?
All sales are final. Refunds are not available. In the rare event that a speaker is unable to appear as scheduled for any reason we will find a suitable replacement to take their place.
  • Are the events available to watch via Zoom if I don’t want to attend in the theater?
All ticket holders have the option to watch a livestream of the in-theater events. The Zoom livestreams are broadcast from the theater in San Mateo – please see our calendar page for dates. The Zoom events must be watched live on the date they are presented – recordings will not be available.
  • Is disabled seating available?
Yes! Please email us at mpsf@speakerseries.net to reserve.
  • Is the series appropriate for children?
Depending on the subject matter some events are appropriate for ages 10 and up. The series is not appropriate for younger children.
  • What should I do if I lose my ticket?
Email us at mpsf@speakerseries.net and we can have your ticket reprinted and waiting at will call the night of the event.
  • What is the timing for each event?
Doors open at 6:30 PM. The lecture begins at 7:30 PM and ends at 9:00 PM.

I think this is the best event available to the Marin public…it is definitely the best and most educational and entertaining I have experienced in Marin!!

I love how responsive you are to the members. I feel like you are truly invested in providing us with what we want as opposed to what works for the organization.

Lucy C.

This is our first year attending the series. We like everything we have heard so far. The facilities and personnel are wonderful.
